2018 Honda CRF250R Debut

2017 MXGP Of USA | 2018 Honda CRF250R Debut

Team Honda HRC MX2 rider Michele Cervellin will have the honor of making the official competition debut of the production 2018 Honda CRF250R. We’ve documented the progress of the all-new from early prototypes that were raced at rounds of the All Japan MX National Championship to the bike’s official debut just a few weeks ago. With the ability to race works bikes in the Monster Energy FIM Motocross Championship, it’s no surprise that the small-bore CRF will hit the starting line at the 2017 MXGP of USA round.

It’s worth noting that although a handful of US-based riders with GEICO Honda will race this weekend, Cerevillin will be the only rider in the MX2 division on the 2018 Honda CRF250R. Word in the paddock is that the bike will be a bit slow to reach US shores, so the American team has not had sufficient time to test and build a full-scale race bike.

The full press release from Team Honda HRC MX2 regarding the bike’s debut is posted below…

This weekend Michele Cervellin debuts the all new CRF250RW at the MXGP of the USA for round 17 of the FIM world motocross championship.

The Factory-spec machine is based on the new 2018 CRF250R which was unveiled recently in Lommel. Honda Racing Corporation has given the bike the works treatment, making it a highly competitive machine in the MX2 class.

I am really looking forward to riding in the US this weekend on the new CRF250RW. I had a really good start to the season in the fly away rounds so I am excited to head overseas again. I really like the power of the new bike, it is also much better off of the starts so I think we should be able to get a good start and then a better result from that. I am much better in my physical condition now too so I am confident that I am feeling good in myself and on the new bike. – Michele Cervellin, rider

This weekend we debut the all new Honda CRF250RW which we are quite excited about. Miki has been testing the bike over the last few weeks so we are looking forward to seeing how he does in competition at this new to the MXGP calendar Jacksonville track. – Roger Harvey, Team Honda HRC MXGP General Manager.
